Posted by Matt Loede on July 27th, 2007 in News

New York Jets running back Curtis Martin is hanging up his spikes. The 11-year veteran is stepping down as the fourth-leading rusher in NFL history. He has 14,101 yards on the ground. He is also third all-time with 3,518 attempts and is 12th with 90 rushing scores. Martin missed all of the 2006 season after right knee surgery. He played his first three seasons with the Patriots before joining the Jets. In an interview on “The Early Show” on CBS, Martin said he would like to stay active with the NFL, possibly in an ownership role.
