Posted in Jets first-round CB Darelle Revis has missed three days of 
training camp, and to make matters worse the contract mess that he and the team are involved in doesn’t appear to be getting resolved any time soon. The Star-Ledger is reporting that Revis and his agent, Neil Schwartz, want a 5-year deal from the team. The Jets have counterproposed a six-year deal. Which is unusual in that all of the draft picks drafted between #7 and #16 overall have nailed down five-year deals. Also – those contracts are typically slotted and not at all difficult to get those deals done.
Schwartz, as most agents tend to do, declined comment. The Jets, as is their policy, declined to discuss the Revis contract situation. In the meantime – you guessed it – Revis is missing valuable training camp time with this holdout. CB Justin Miller appears to be playing well in Revis’ absence. Head coach Eric Mangini summarized the Revis situation by saying, “Every day is critical. Every day we’re installing new defenses or situational defenses. There’s a lot of really good teaching going on, very important teaching.”
I’m not an agent nor do i claim to be, but certainly there has to be a happy medium in this situation that can be struck here between the two parties involved. And certainly Mangini can’t be happy knowing that Revis is not in camp digesting the defensive schemes. This situation bears watching as this may get ugly if nothing is resolved by the end of this week. Jets Gab will keep you posted as more developments occur.
