Mistakes Everywhere you Look in Jets Ugly Loss to Vikings

All went wrong for the Jets vs Minnesota

While the New York Jets still try and figure out what exactly went wrong on Friday night vs the Vikings, there should be more than enough blame to go around. Things really could not have gone much worse it seemed like, as QB Chad Pennington threw two picks that got returned for scores, and even solid OL Pete Kendall snapped a ball way high and wide that led to a Vikings touchdown. It was that type for night for the Jets, who took a big step backwards from their win a week ago vs the Falcons.

Penalties were another issue for the Jets, who were flagged for 167 yards worth after one week ago having none. The run defense looked like Swiss cheese vs first round Vikings stud back Adrain Peterson and work horse Chester Taylor. They allowed 105 yards in the first half running to Minnesota, and Peterson ran for 70 of them on 8 carries including a touchdown and 43-yard run. Minnesota ran on the day for 167 yards on 31 carries, a 5.4 yards per carry average.

Turnovers were the key, and if the Jets are going to be anywhere near where they were a season ago when they went 10-6 and made the playoffs, they cannot commit the four turnovers, three of which were turned into scores like they did Friday night vs Minnesota. The good thing was, this was just preseason, and if you know anything about the NFL, preseason in three weeks will mean nothing. For now though, Friday night really left a bad taste in everyones mouth
