Pennington Declares He’s Ready to go vs Baltimore

PenningtonThe Jets got some promising news Wednesday about the status of quarterback Chad Pennington, as the QB declared that he would be ready to go on Sunday when the Jets fly to Baltimore to play the Ravens. “I’ll be out there,” Pennington said. “As far as reps and things like that, I have no idea what the coaches have in mind. I’ll be ready to do whatever they ask me to do.” Things looked bleak for Pennington when it came to playing before today, as his ankle seemed to be enough to hold him out of the contest. Now though, it looks like the gamer might just make it on the field after all.

“It’s just a day-to-day process and I’m working extremely hard around the clock to do everything I can to prepare myself to play,” Pennington said. “I’m just taking it day by day and seeing how much progress I make each day.” The Jets are playing the shhhh game when it comes to speaking about the injury to Pennington, as they won’t even reveal if Pennington had an MRI on the ankle, which was injured in the third quarter of the teams 38-14 loss to the Pats Sunday at the Meadowlands.

While Chad thinks he will be able to go Sunday, head coach Eric Mangini is playing the coach speak as to how they will move along with their QB. “We’ll see how it goes,” Mangini said. “And it’s really like everybody. We’ll talk to the doctors, we’ll see how it works and then we’ll monitor it as we go.” If Pennington is forced to sit, Kellen Clemens will get the start.
