All Signs Point to Chad Being Starter Sunday vs Miami

It looks as if this time, there will not be a game-time decision, as Jets quarterback Chad Pennington should be ready to go Sunday as the Jets take on the Dolphins.  Pennington along with last weeks starter – Kellen Clemens, took turns with the #1 recievers in Wednesday’s practice, but all indications point to Pennington being Sunday’s starter.

“I worked extremely hard and prepared really hard on an injury that normally takes some time,” Pennington said Wednesday. “My whole goal was to be available on Sunday. And I was available.”  Pennington watched from the sidelines as Clemens struggled early, but then rebounded for a strong 4th quarter as the Jets fell in Baltimore 20-13.  As for last week, Pennington said he left it up to coach Eric Mangini.  “I left it up to Coach to make that decision,” Pennington said. “Once he made that decision, I turned my focus to helping Kellen as much as I could on the sideline and give him my knowledge of what I was seeing during the game.”

Clemens showed a lot, but at the same time, Mangini seems committed to being Pennington being the starter – for now.  Many more injuries to Pennington and you can bet that sometime down the road, Clemens will have a shot again.  This time, he just might get the job done.
