Coleman sidelined with concussion; status for Sunday unknown

The New York Jets may possibly be without the services of safety Erik Coleman with a concussion and his availability for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants is iffy at the moment, according to Dennis Waszak, Jr. of the Associated Press. Coleman was injured during the Jets-Buffalo Bills game last weekend, but didn’t experience any symptoms until after the game.
Team head coach Eric Mangini said that Coleman told the team on Monday that he was experiencing discomfort; Coleman was originally listed as out for practice on Wednesday with a head injury, but it was changed to a concussion due to a clerical error. Coleman has started the Jets first four games, recording 35 tackles which leads the team. If Coleman isn’t available Sunday, Eric Smith would probably get the start, with Rashad Washington and/or Abram Elam in reserve.
