Coles Points Finger at Himself for Sunday Loss

While the Jets season continues to unravel, wide out Laveranues Coles decided on Monday to take the blame for Sunday’s latest defeat on himself.  “Point the finger at me,” Coles said. “Any time something is not right with the offense, it’s my fault. Blame me, because it’s left up to me to make plays and help this team win games and evidently I haven’t done enough to put us in position to win, so it’s on me. Point the finger at me. I want to help this team win.”

There has been much discussion about the offense and it’s lackluster play so far in 2007, to the lack of a downfield passing game, to the inability to get the running game with new feature back Thomas Jones going.  Coles has 32 catches in 2007 for 300 yards and four touchdowns.  He is averaging just 9.4 yards per catch, but the Jets as a whole have simply been unable to get the ball down the field.  Is the blame right to be on Coles?  Hardley, but it’s nice to see some finally step up and take some credit for what is going right - or wrong.
