Vilma Disputes Mangini’s Claim He was Hurt Sunday

Jets linebacker Jonathan Vilma gave his take Tuesday as to why he was not in the teams loss to the Bengals in the second half, and it goes against what was told to the media by head coach Eric Mangini. “I have no idea why I was taken out,” Vilma said on his weekly WFAN spot. “I didn’t even know I was going to be taken out until I was taken out.” Monday Mangini told reporters the reason why Vilma was not in the game was due to an unspecified injury that affected his play. That’s news to Vilma. “It definitely wasn’t because I was injured in the game,” he said on WFAN.

The linebacker had three tackles in the game at Cincy, and said being removed was “a coach’s decision.” So is his job on the verge of being taken over by another player? “I don’t think it should be,” he said.
