The Jets have themselves a new DT, as the deal that was reported earlier today on Jetsgab has taken place, as the Jets have acquired Kris Jenkins from the Panthers for a third and fifth round draft pick.  Then, after the deal was set, the Jets made Jenkins a very, VERY rich man, as they gave him a new five-year deal worth $35 million, with $20 mil of it in guaranteed money.  “Kris is extremely excited to be going to New York,” said Jenkins’ agent, Tony Paige. “He leaves Carolina with no malice or anything like that and is grateful they drafted him and gave him a chance to play. He had a lot of great memories there.”  The 6-foot-4, 349 pound Jenkins may end up at nose tackle for the Jets in their 3-4 scheme.  Health is another huge issue for Jenkins, as he has missed a lot of time in the past few seasons with injuries, but has been back on the field to play in every game the last two years.  In 2007 Jenkins made 38 tackles and had 2.5 sacks.
