Vols Ainge Signs With Jets

Quarterback Erik Ainge signed a contract with the NFL’s  Jets Thursday, after being picked by them in the fifth round of April’s draft.  Ainge is expected to compete to be the Jets third quarterback behind Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemens.  The 6-5 Ainge started 35 games for the Tennessee Vols during his college career in Knoxville, passing for more than 6300 yards and 51 touchdowns.  Ainge is the nephew of Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge.
