The Jets have lost a veteran defensive back, as long time safety Artrell Hawkins has announced his retirement. The 10-year vet was originally a 2nd round pick by the Bengals back in 1998, and played his career with Cincy, Carolina, New England and the Jets. He ends his career coming off a good 2007 with 73 tackles and one pick for New York. Head coach Eric Mangini said that Hawkins might go from the playing field to the broadcasting booth.
