Pennington Beats Out Clemens in Team Scrimmage

As has been the case quite a few times already this summer, Chad Pennington once again beat out Kellen Clemens at the Jets Green and White scrimmage earlier today. Pennington is heads and tails having a better camp than the younger Clemens, and seems well on his way to being the teams starter in 2008. “No, that’s up to Coach,” Pennington said about the competition. “I’m pleased with how our whole team did. We came out here and competed really well.” As far as the numbers went, Pennington was 8-for-14 for 115 yards with a 27-yard TD to Jerricho Cotchery. Clemens was just 8-for-22 for 137 yards. His best play was a 55-yard TD to first round pick Dustin Keller.
“We lost, which always puts a shadow on anything,” said Clemens, about being on the losing side. “All in all, there were some good points. The touchdown to Keller was nice. It showcased his abilities a little bit.” Word is that Clemens has looked better as of late in camp, but the bottom line is that Chad is looking poised to start the season, and has camp has rolled on, that has become more and more evident.
