Jets Jump on Cardinals as Favre Throws Six TD’s in 56-35 Win

And to think you were worried about Brett Favre and the Jets offense. Tthat thought should have been erased 30 minutes into Sunday’s game at home vs the Cardinals, as the Jets built a whopping 34-0 lead at the Meadowlands, in the end holding on for a statement 56-35 blow out win.

The Jets used three TD passes from Farve to Laveranues Coles, and six overall on the day from their future Hall of Fame QB to pound the Cardinals into submission. Coach Ken Whisenhunt kept his team out East after their loss to the Redskins last week, thinking that not having to go back and forth out West would make a difference – it didn’t.

Arizona allowed the Jets 373 yards, and Favre went 24-for-34 for 289 yards, six TD’s and one pick. He had a QB rating of 123.7. The performance of Kurt Warner was wasted, as the Cards QB was 40-for-57 in throwing a ton in the second half. He ended with 472 yards and two TD’s and three INT’s. He threw a costly one to Darrelle Revis that was returned 32 yards for a score in the second quarter that made it 14-0.

The Jets put up 34 points in that second quarter, Coles catching three TD’s of 12, 34 and 2 yards. Revis had the pick for a score, and Jay Feely kicked two field goals for the 34-0 halftime lead. Edgerrin James scored on two TD’s, and Tim Hightower went in from a yard out to make it 34-21.

That was as close as the Cards would get, as Favre threw three more TD’s in the fourth quarter as the Jets piled on another 22 points. He threw two TD’s to Jerricho Cotchery, and a final one to Dustin Keller to wrap up the scoring at 56 points with 1:54 remaning. Coles had 8 catches for 105 yards, Cotchery four grabs for 67 yards.

At 2-2 the Jets will have the bye week in week five, then get ready for the Bengals at home on the 12th of October.
