Jets Blow a Great Shot in Oakland

It had the makings for a big win, but in the end, the Jets look like a team that just blew what could have been a great chance to stay within striking distance of the Bills with a 16-13 overtime loss to the Raiders Sunday in Oakland.  The team nowhere near played up to their potential, and while they had their chances, they failed in just about every area to finish off a team that had lost 34-3 the week before.

What was so frustrating was the passing game, as they didn’t have the same “go for the kill” feel like they had the few weeks before.  Brett Favre was off against a team he had been very good against in the past, and the WR’s failed to really make their mark against a secondary that had been beaten up badly by the Saints.

Then of course was a defense that just let the Raiders in the game for too long.  They had their hands on some passes, and also could have went for a big blow if they would heve been able to get a turnover against a team that has had them in bunches in the past.  Again though, they failed in that area, and it’s a reason they are back to .500.

While the schedule will be kind to them again this week with a home game vs the awful Chiefs, after that they are on the road for three of four, against the Bills, Pats and Titans, with a Rams game in between on November 9th.  They should be 4-2, not 3-3, and let’s hope the letdown in Oakland is not one they will lament for the rest of the 08 season.
