Jets Jump to a First-Place Tie After 26-17 Win in Buffalo

Winning a game in Buffalo in November is not an easy thing to do, but for the New York Jets, their win over the Bills Sunday was the most impressive win they have had in a long time, no matter where it was played. The team played together, and put together a solid game on both sides of the ball, leaving Ralph Wilson Stadium with a 26-17 win.

The victory pushes them to 5-3, and ties them with the Bills and Patriots for a share of first in the AFC East with the victory. While there was nothing spectacular about the win numbers wise, everyone did their part, with the offense putting up 297 yards, and the D scoring on a pick for a TD and holding Trent Edwards and the Bills offense to 292 yards.

Same goes for the special teams for the Jets, who got Jay Feely in range for four perfect field goals, and they got a 40-yard kickoff return from Leon Washington, and didn’t allow the Bills any back breaking plays in that department that could have stopped their momentum in the win.

Brett Favre went 19-for-28 for 201 yards with a pick that did go back for a score, but never got sacked, which was good. Edwards, who went 24-for-35 for 289 yards with one TD and a pick that went back for six by Abram Elam that turned a 7-6 Bills lead into a 13-7 Jets lead on the last play of the first quarter.

The Jets would never trail from there. They got a Feely field goal to make it 16-7 at the 8:55 mark of the third quarter. Then after a Rian Lindell field goal made it 16-10, the Jets answered, as they got a big play from Favre to Jerricho Cotchery for 35 yards and then the next play Thomas Jones went in from 7 yards out to make it 23-10.

A Bills TD on an INT return and then a Feely 31-yard field goal wrapped up the scoring with 2:12 left. The now 5-3 Jets come back home winners of four of their last five, and next Sunday they host the St.Louis Rams, who lost 34-13 on Sunday to the Cardinals.
