Woody Johnson Fails to Give Mangini a Vote of Confidence

The door was open Tuesday for Woody Johnson to clarify Eric Mangini’s job status. The Jets’ owner showed up for practice, chatted ever-so-briefly with reporters and left before a question could be asked – and he didn’t make any unsolicited comments about his coach. Mangini maintained his stance on the swirling speculation, saying his only focus is preparing the Jets for their season finale against the Dolphins Sunday at the Meadowlands. Mangini speaks with Johnson on a regular basis, but he said he has yet to broach the subject of his job security. “No, and I wouldn’t,” said Mangini, who is ending the third year of a four-year contract.
