Grimm Officially In Line for a Talk w/ the Jets

From: Pro Football Talk.com

Two years after, as legend has it, being offered the Steelers’ head-coaching job before having the offer revoked, Cardinals offensive line coach Russ Grimm is getting consideration for another vacancy.

Per Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News, Grimm is the latest candidate for the job that came open last Monday, when Eric Mangini abruptly was fired.

This development implies that the Cardinals have granted permission for the interview to proceed before their playoff run ends. Under league rules, assistant coaches who play during wild-card week are eligible to be interviewed for head-coaching jobs, but only if their current teams allow it.

Last year, the Jaguars gave the Falcons permission to interview defensive coordinator Mike Smith in the days after Jacksonville’s wild-card win over the Steelers. That same week, the Giants rejected a request from the Falcons to interview defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.
