Clowney Speaks on His Blog About Sanchez, Trading Ratliff

Jets Browns Football
I didn’t get to watch most of the first day of the draft because I was in Texas doing a charity event, a celebrity car show with my teammate Drew Coleman. But I got a text from Mark Sanchez yesterday that said he was excited to be a Jet and that he can’t wait to work with me.

Abram Elam, one of my closest friends on the team, was right there next to me. Now he’s in Cleveland. It’s tough when someone you’re close to gets traded but he definitely should be starting in somebody’s system. In Cleveland he’ll get the opportunity to show how I know he can play.

When the Jets drafted Mark my phone blew up with calls and texts. I’m excited to see what he can do. It’s going to be a nice little show when he competes with Kellen for the starting job. I think they shouldn’t just make him the starter because he’s a first round pick. Let them compete and whatever happens, happens.

Either way it’s going to be fine. Me, I just have to keep working, keep grinding. My main job right now is to do anything I can to help the team win every game but also to get that starting job. Whatever QB is in there I just hope they can throw the ball far enough to where I’m going to be.

We had a great time at the charity car show raising money for the Boys & Girls Club. We all flew in and Drew paid for our hotel rooms, the same thing I do when I hold my football camp. I’m going to have Abe, Drew, Chad Pennington and some other guys fly in, I’ll have a limo pick them up at the airport and I’ll put them up in a hotel.
