Just a few days after the draft, there’s a lot of talk about if the new QB of the New York Jets – Mark Sanchez, will be behind center opening day like Matt Ryan was last year for the Falcons and Joe Flacco was for Baltimore. Michael Lombardi of National Football Post says without a doubt – Sanchez will start for the Jets.
Sanchez does not have the playing experience like the overall number one pick Matthew Stafford does, but at the same time, his stock did nothing but rise in the weeks and days leading up to the draft. As Lombardi points out, the biggest thing that Sanchez has to get done is a contract. If he does not get into camp on time, starting from day one will be next to impossible.
The USC QB will have to go up against Kellen Clemens in camp, as he will be the starter likely going into training camp, but then again, remember that Flacco was the #3 entering training camp last offseason for the Ravens, and he was one game away from the Super Bowl.
