Jets Owner Says He’d Not Have an Issue Going After Burress

Giants Burress Football
Looks like the Jets interest in troubled WR Plaxico Burress is real, at least in the mind of owner Woody Johnson. “We’re going to look for talent where we can find it,” Johnson said Saturday in an interview with the Daily News. “If a guy has committed a crime and is in jail, obviously we can’t take him. We’re committed to improving the team.

“They don’t need my permission. They’ll talk to me, obviously. Mike has to make the final choice. I’ll weigh in, like I do frequently, but it’s his decision. It’s all based on whether the individual can help the team or not.”

Burress is trouble – pure and simple. But he’s a good receiver when he’s focused, and one that would fill a huge hole for the Jets and likely new QB Mark Sanchez – a number one wide out. There’s rumors that the Jets may make a move for Browns WR Braylon Edwards, but if not, Burress may be the next best option.
