Veteran TE Owens Joins the Jets

One day after the Jets dumped a tight end, they have picked another one up. The team today signed veteran free agent tight end Richard Owens.

The 28-year-old has 17 career catches for 141 yards and a touchdown in four NFL seasons with Minnesota and St. Louis. He was out of the NFL last season after he was cut by the Rams.

He was signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Louisville in 2004. Owens played 39 games for Minnesota before being waived in 2007, and then signed with St. Louis.
