Season Over for RB Leon Washington
Posted by Matt Loede on October 26th, 2009 in Injury Report, News
Leon Washington has been placed on injured reserve with a fractured fibula, officially ending his 2009 season. For a short time, it was thought he might avoid IR and return late in the season, but the team apparently thought better of risking a roster spot on a player who might not return. The injury is a nightmare for Washington, who was angling for a new contract. For what it’s worth, Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum has said Washington will be with the organization for a “long, long time.”

Unfortunate what happened to Washington, The Jets will miss him for the remainder of the season, Sanchez will have to have the poise of a veteran and the skill and mindset of a leader, a little too much to ask of a rookie QB?
