Look for Rex Ryan to have more of a role in what the Jets do on offense after Mark Sanchez’s poor outing on Sunday:
Instead of making Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez write ”ball security” on the blackboard 1,000 times in an effort to drive home the point, coach Rex Ryan has decided to take a more active role in the offense and deliver the message personally. Ryan, who has devoted nearly all of his time to his beloved defense and has been criticized for not coaching the entire team, said Monday that ensuring Sanchez does a better job of protecting the ball will be solely his responsibility for this point forward. “It’s on nobody else but me to see that he takes care of the football better,” Ryan said Monday. Ryan, who’ll be in Sanchez’s ear during games and practice and will start attending more offensive meetings, announced the move in the wake of Sanchez’s five-turnover game (four interceptions – three by cornerback Leigh Bodden – and a lost fumble) in the Jets’ 31-14 loss to the Patriots Sunday at Gillette Stadium.
