New York Jets free safety Kerry Rhodes

I guess even if you own a team that is currently sporting a 4-6 record and you have a player, despite his multimillion dollar contract, who is underwhelming, then changes will probably be made. Apparently that is the case in New York as Fox Sports.com is reporting that the Jets are planning on sitting starting free safety Kerry Rhodes this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

With Rhodes’ inevitable benching this weekend, Eric Smith will likely get the starting assignment – his first this season. Rhodes, who was drafted by the Jets back in 2005, had started every game but this season didn’t do so well, recording 42 tackles with no forced fumbles or interceptions.
