Ryan Says the Jets Should be Ready to Compete Again in 2010
USA Today says that Rex Ryan feels that despite the loss, the Jets should be ready to compete again in 2010:
A disappointed Rex Ryan reiterated his faith in his Jets team today after a 30-17 loss to the Colts in the AFC championship game. Ryan paid homage to the Colts, but said the confidence he held in his team (which often came off as bravado) was due to his belief that the wild-card team could have won the Super Bowl. “We thought we could win it all,” Ryan said. “We really did. You’ve got to have certain breaks. We’re close, there’s no question.” Ryan said getting players such as DT Kris Jenkins and RB/KR Leon Washington (both out since October) back in action could propel the Jets to the next level. “If two of the pro bowls players left any other team, people would have talked about it,” Ryan said. “We don’t need a whole lot. If we get those two back, that’s really going to add to our football team.”

With Peyton Manning and the Colts, timing with his receivers is everything. In order to get to Manning, you have to disrupt his timing. You have to jam his receivers, make heavy physical contact within the proscribed five yard area! The corners played off and times when they manned up they did not make contact. The allowed the receivers to freely run their routes.

Don’t bet on it chubby, look at what happened to the Dolphins this season, your schedule will be tougher, now you’ll have to earn wins against good teams instead of playing cream puffs.
I wouldn’t put any money on the Jets even making the playoffs next season.
