This is the second installment of the roundtable feature we are now doing here at Jets Gab.

If you have any questions you would like to have answered please email me at cippinonsports@gmail.com.

With that said let’s get it started:

1. What is your reaction to the NEW 3 headed monster we have in the backfield? Will we still be number one in rushing?

Chris: While I would have preferred to see Thomas Jones in LaDainian Tomlinson’s role, I still seeing the running game being a strong point for the Jets. While they might not be number one is rushing, that will be due more to them passing more and not because of the talent in the backfield.

Brian: I’m really excited for the new run scheme. The only one I was hurt to see go was Leon Washington. But we had to. He probably wouldn’t have been that affective for this year. Even if McKnight is a bust, I think Greene and Tomlinson will be fine. I’m banking on the Jets not focusing the entire offense of just the run this year.

2. How do you feel about Rex Ryan’s weight loss challenge to Kris Jenkins and Damien Woody ?

Chris: I love it. While most coaches would be upset about his players being overweight and a little out of shape and perhaps resort to discipline, Rex does the complete opposite and turns it into something fun. That’s something we would have never seen with Eric Mangini.

Brian: I think its a great challenge. When I heard that Kris Jenkins was 390 I was like “Woah”. If he wants to be as good as he was, if not better, than he was last year he needs to be around 340-350.

3. Will they finally go to more of a passing game or stick with the run?

Chris: I still think they should rely on the running game. The strengths of the offense are the backfield and offensive line. We saw this past year how Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco struggled when given more responsibility. The addition of Santonio Holmes should help Sanchez, but they can’t get away from their identity.

Brian: My guess is Mark will get to throw the ball more. He proved himself in the Playoffs. Shotty loves to throw the ball so for me, with the receiving core we have now, it will be interesting to see what Mark does this year.

4. Do you think it’s Super Bowl or bust this year for the Jets?

Chris: No, and it really bugs me when I hear all the media pundits saying that. While the Jets have the talent to make the Super Bowl this year, the core of the team is young and they will be perennial contenders for a long time.

Brian: No, not at all. I think with the talent they have and what they did last year, there is no reason why they can’t win the AFC East at least. They’ll be in the playoffs again, and it will be seen whether they can go the distance again.

5. Which rookie do you think will have the biggest impact?

Chris: My money is on Kyle Wilson, our first rounder. He will help out right away playing in nickel packages and will likely assume punt returning duties.

Brian: I think it will be the cornerback we got, Kyle Wilson. For me, a rookie cornerback learning under a number one cornerback like Darrelle Revis just oozes excellence.

6. What are do think of a New York, New Jersey Super Bowl?

Chris: I love the idea. All other rounds of the playoffs are played outdoors in cold weather cities, so why not the Super Bowl. It’s worth a shot and if it works out I wouldn’t be against it being held in other cities like Denver, Philadelphia, or D.C. As long as Goodell keeps the Super Bowl in the U.S., wherever it’s played is fine by me.

Brian: I think its great, but I know I wont be going. Tickets are usually too much. Seriously though, if the Jets or the Giants make to the Super Bowl that year, and its in NY, then I say all of NY better be there.

That’s it for the latest edition of our roundtable discussion. Again, if you have any questions you want answered email me at cippinonsports@gmail.com.
