Ryan only wanted to bench Edwards for one play?

It’s interesting the stories around WR Braylon Edwards after Sunday’s game, and now the latest is that Rex Ryan wanted to bench the WR for just one play instead of a whole quarter Sunday in Miami.

Jets head coach Rex Ryan denied a report that he wanted to bench Braylon Edwards for only one play, while management wanted to keep the wideout on the sideline for one quarter according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “I don’t know where that came from,” Ryan said. “That’s not the case at all.” The coach reiterated his stance that he was “embarrassed” by Edwards’ DWI arrest, but still supported his player. “Hopefully we never have another issue like this (on the team),” Ryan said. “Is that really going to happen? Probably not. But we’re hopeful.”
