Charges Dropped Against Fireman Ed

Back in September, reports surfaced that ‘Fireman Ed’ could be facing a simple assault charge after he pushed a Giants fan during the teams preseason game at the New Meadowlands. The video of the incident surfaced on Youtube and became a viral sensation.

However, the NY Daily News reports that the charges have been dropped against Fireman Ed

Big Blue fan Christopher Black opted Wednesday to drop charges against Ed Anzalone, 51, a retired FDNY member. Anzalone, in his familiar fire helmet, is renowned for leading the “J-E-T-S!” chant.

“He’s extremely happy, and holds no ill will toward the other man,” said Anzalone’s lawyer, Jonathan Lomurro. “Now he can go enjoy the football game this Sunday.”

… Black, of Tinton Falls, N.J., was charged with disorderly conduct on the night of the brief battle. He was wearing a Giants No. 81 jersey when he mixed it up with Anzalone.

The charges against Black will be dismissed in six months if he completes an anger management course, court officials said.

“Both parties are happy, and both sides made amends with each other,” said Black’s lawyer, Alexander Iler.
