Edwards knows he’s in for a rude welcome in Cleveland

At one time, Braylon Edwards was the toast of the town when he was a member of the Cleveland Browns. Now, he’s on the outside looking in, making a return to the Dawg Pound for the first time Sunday as a member of the Jets.

Edwards, speaking to the media on Wednesday, knows he’s not going to be greeted with a warm welcome when he shows up in green Sunday at 1pm.

“I think the boos will be serious,” the wide receiver said Wednesday. “I don’t think they’ll be cheering. I think everybody will be against me, but so what? That’s life.”

Edwards has been outspoken since the Browns traded him last year, and it should be interesting as this Sunday is the first time he will face Eric Mangini and his former mates.

“I’m prepared for this,” he said. “I think I’ve been very professional when dealing with situations in my career. I don’t think it will bother me at all. It may bother you guys more than it bothers me.”

Last season was an odd one for Edwards, as he was moved to the Jets after an incident which involved a scuffle with former “King” of Cleveland LeBron James and his posse.

After that, Edwards said he couldn’t wait to get out of the Rock N’ Roll city.

“The biggest thing for me is I couldn’t show how excited I was at the time,” Edwards said. “I just thought that it would be unprofessional to do a dance in his office as he’s telling me. … When he told me that, it was just, I couldn’t get out of Berea fast enough.”
