Kris Jenkins Unlikey to Return to Jets

The Jets released Kris Jenkins earlier in the offseason and the speculation has been that he would resign with the team at a reduced salary later in the offseason.

After the comments Jenkins made to NY Metro, those odds appear to be shrinking.

“I’d be interested if [the Jets] had grass on the stadium field but right now, that’s the big thing and they don’t,” Jenkins told Metro yesterday.

… “[FieldTurf], it ain’t my friend. Just as far as my health is concerned, I need to think about that and how my body can and will respond,” Jenkins said. “New York would be a major possibility, we’ll have to see, but at this point in time, I want to take care of me, too.”

This news now makes defensive line a more pressing need for the Jets. Do they have to take Phil Taylor if he’sthere at #30 now?

I don’t know about have to, but it certainly makes a lot of sense.

What do you guys think? Thing there’s any chance Jenkins will still come back? Do you like Taylor as his replacement?

I’ve always thought Taylor made a lot of sense. After all Jenkins was off the field more than on during the past two seasons. Now Taylor makes more sense then ever, especially since IMHO the OLB’s available to us at 30th are not all that good. I just hope Taylor is still there.
