Revis Gives Advice to Lions Rookie CB Aaron Berry

Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis has become the epitome of “shutdown corner” in the NFL, teams have progressively thrown to his side of the field less and less as the cornerback’s skills as a defender have grown since he came into the league as a rookie. Lions cornerback Aaron Berry spent some time with Revis in February and came away with plenty of tips and pointers from his former teammate. Berry and Revis were both cornerbacks to the University of Pittsburgh’s Panthers.

Revis stressed to Berry the importance of watching film. “That’s a lot of the thing that separates people in the NFL, that film and just knowing what teams are going to do and knowing what people are going to do,” said Berry. “That’s pretty much what he tried to emphasize to me. Berry, whose playing time was limited during his rookie season in 2010 due to a right shoulder injury, will return to Detroit for team drills and practices that Lions captain Kyle Vanden Bosch is organizing.
