Ryan Says Coaches Brief ‘Came Out Of Left Field’

The Newark Star-Ledger reports that Rex Ryan is yet another NFL coach who says he wasn’t on board with the idea of a brief that was sent over last week by the NFL Coaches Association that sided with owners.

The Jets have joined several other NFL teams who have said they were unaware of and don’t support a brief filed by the NFL Coaches Association that sided with the players against the owners. Jets coach Rex Ryan says in a statement today that “none of our guys knew anything about it. It kind of came out of left field on us,” Ryan says. “Nobody knew it was filed and nobody approved it being filed, so that’s where it is.” The NFL Coaches Association filed the brief in the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on May 25 saying that the lockout is putting their jobs in jeopardy. Ryan’s statement was similar to those issued by Philadelphia, Buffalo, Washington and Jacksonville.
