The Jets have issued funeral arrangements for former assistant equipment manager Billy Hampton on behalf of Hampton’s family. Hampton, 51, died of a heart attack last week after attending the ESPYs. He had a management position for UnderArmour apparel and before that was vice president of operation for the Cleveland Browns. His father, Bill, was the Jets’ equipment manager for many years. Two of his brothers currently are NFL equipment managers, Clay with the Jets and Drew with Jacksonville.
The wake will be at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home at 582 Springfield Ave. in Westfield, N.J. Phone number there is (908) 789–7400. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Westfield, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
