AFC East Roundup: Patriots, Dolphins, Bills Make Moves

The New York Jets made all early headlines in free agency re-signing Santonio Holmes and making a run at Nanamdi Asomugha.

However, today their AFC East rivals stepped out of the Jets shadow and made move of their own.

First the Miami Dolphins swung a trade with the New Orleans Saints for Heisman Trophy Winner (can we still call him that?) and former number two overall pick Reggie Bush. Bush is expected to combine with rookie Daniel Thomas in the Miami backfield, but don’t be surprised to see them add another back.

Not to be outdone,  the New England Patriots traded for disgruntled defensive tackle and former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Albert Haynesworth. It was a typical Bill Belichick move – taking on a talented, but unwanted player – and doing for for little risk (Haynesworth only cost them a 2013 5th round pick and a non-guaranteed contract.)

Lastly, our upstate rivals, the Buffalo Bills, snatched one of our own signing wide receiver/kick returner/quarterback/do it all man Brad Smith. Smith was a great Jet and the team will surely miss his highlight-reel plays. Best of luck in Buffalo Brad, except when you play the Jets.
