ILB David Harris Gets a New Four-year Deal

Jets inside linebacker David Harris has been signed to a four-year contract contract, the team announced on Tuesday.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the deal is worth $36 million and includes $29.5 million in guaranteed money.

A second-round pick (47th overall) out of the University of Michigan in 2007, Harris (6-foot-2, 243) has totaled 428 tackles, 14.5 quarterback sacks and a pair of interceptions as a starter in 52 of his 59 games in the NFL, adding 55 tackles, two quarterback sacks, and an interception in six post-season games over the last two seasons.

Harris earned $550,000 in base salary in 2010, the final season of his four-year, $3.46 million rookie contract.

Identified last offseason as a member of the “Core Four”, a group of players the team’s front office wanted to sign for the long-term, the Jets placed the franchise tag on Harris in February. That tender is worth over $10 million in gua
