Jets Blown Out By Patriots 37-16 to Snap Three-Game Win Streak

Plaxico Burress (17) catches a touchdown pass over New England Patriots' Antwaun Molden

They have been down this road before, but Sunday night’s blowout loss to the Patriots hurts just as much as last year.

“We’ve got to put this game behind us as fast as we can,” Rex Ryan said of the loss. The Pats turned a 13-9 halftime lead into a huge second half beat down, outscoring the Jets 24-7 enroute to a 37-16 victory.

The loss drops the Jets to 5-4, while the Pats take control of the division with a 6-3 mark, and they have two wins over the Jets as they get set for the second half of the year.

Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes, including two to Rob Gronkowski, who had a huge night against the Jets defense. Gronkowski had 8 catches for 113 yards with two scores.

After the Jets got within a score at 23-16 early in the fourth quarter, Brady coolly led the Patriots down the field on an 84-yard drive that was capped by an 8-yard touchdown catch by Deion Branch.

Pats linebacker Rob Ninkovich sealed the victory — which snapped a two-game skid — on the Jets’ next possession with a 12-yard interception return for a touchdown midway through the final quarter.

The loss for the Jets snaps their three-game winning streak. It was also the first home loss for the Jets.

“Maybe I should guarantee the fact that we’re out of it,” Ryan joked in the somber post game presser. “Last time I said that we made the playoffs.”

He can only hope that happens again, as now the Jets travel to Denver for a Thursday night game against Tim Tebow and the Broncos, who have won three of four and are 4-5 on the year since Tebow took over at QB.
