Jets to Put Restricted FA Tender on OLB Aaron Maybin

The Jets will place a restricted free agent tender on outside linebacker Aaron Maybin, Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger reports.

Which tender Maybin will receive is unclear. Vrentas reports that it will be an “original round” tender, which would be worth $1.26 million in non-guaranteed base salary.

Depending on the qualifying offers given to the Jets’ other restricted free agents, the Jets could receive first round draft choice compensation if another club signed Maybin to an offer sheet that the Jets declined to match.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets will tender Maybin at the “First Round” level, which would come with a non-guaranteed base salary of $2.742 million and assures the Jets of first round draft choice compensation if he signed an offer sheet with another team that the Jets declined to match.
