Jets Interested in Trying to Go After Tim Tebow?

With Tim Tebow now officially on the trade block, there’s a number of teams that are going to show interest.

Count the Jets as one of those teams.

Jets general manager Mike Tannebaum declined to discuss Tebow, but was willing to talk about the team’s current crop of quarterbacks, including the newly-signed Drew Stanton, who is penciled in as the No. 2 behind Mark Sanchez.

“We feel good about where we are now,” Tannenbaum said. “I’ll give you my standard answer, which is you never know if other opportunities present themselves. We’ll always look at it, that’s the standard line there, but we feel good about Greg (McElroy), Drew and Mark, and see where we go from there.”

Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger reports that the Jets interest in Tebow is real. Just how real it is remains to be seen in the coming days and weeks.

Tebow started 14 of 23 games during his two-year career, completing 47.3 percent of 353 pass attempts for 2,383 yards with 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The 6-foot-2, 236-pound Tebow has added 887 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns.

Tebow will be replaced in the Denver Broncos starting lineup by Peyton Manning, who signed a five-year, $96 million contract on Tuesday and was introduced to the media this afternoon.
