Jets Primed for a Comeback Season

By John Touhey

September 9th marks the start of the 2012 season for Rex Ryan and the Jets. The good news for Gang Green is that the “real” season starts now despite their weak 0-4 preseason performance. With this clean slate, the Jets will have an opportunity to redeem themselves and prove they are a playoff team as they face their AFC East rival Buffalo Bills.

History will be made before kickoff as long time Jet Curtis Martin will be honored for his eight Hall of Fame years wearing green and white and have his number 28 being retired. With Curtis cheering his former team on, it is key for the Jets to get a win week one (maybe score a touchdown or two) and set the tone for 2012. The defense is in midseason form and will once again be top five in the league.

I am not worried about Mark Sanchez in the least bit, as long as the offense line gives him time, Sanchez will shine. No talk about Tim Tebow just yet but I’m sure after week one he’ll find his way into some headlines.
