The Jets have signed free agent RB/FB Lex Hilliard, the team announced.
Hilliard, who was originally drafted by Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano in Miami, spent 2008-11 with the Dolphins before bouncing between the Vikings practice squad and the Patriots active roster this season.
The signing likely casts doubt for FB John Conner’s injury situation. Conner has been battling knee issues all year while TE Konrad Reuland has filled in. Conner played just six snaps before he was injured last week against the 49ers.
The Jets cut WR Patrick Turner in a corresponding move.
