Tim Tebow fractured two ribs in the Jets’ loss to Seahawks two weeks ago, he revealed Thursday. Tebow did not play at all in the 49-19 loss to the Patriots Thursday night. He also broke his rib last year in the playoff loss to the Patriots.
Tebow said that he convinced coach Rex Ryan to put him on the active roster. He said he does not know how long the injury will be an issue for him but that he hopes that it doesn’t force him to miss any games.
“I had to do a little bit of talking just to dress but I just want to be there for my teammates in case they needed me in an emergency situation,” Tebow said.
Tebow said he sustained the injury on an offensive play against the Seahawks, not on a punt protection. He has practiced since then and the injury has made practice difficult. He said the week of practice made it tough for the ribs to heal but does not know.
“You try to do whatever you can for your team and sometimes there’s setbacks with that,” Tebow said. “The St. Louis game a little bit and practice, but you just do what you can to keep moving forward.”
