Wide receiver Braylon Edwards, who was released off the Seahawks IR on Monday, was claimed off waivers by the Jets.
“It feels great to be going home,” Edwards posted on his Twitter page shortly after the announcement. “Thanks to all of jet nation that continuously supported me and pushed for me. I’m back and it’s go timr (sic).”
In two seasons with the team during his previous stint, Edwards caught 88 passes for 1,445 yards and 11 touchdowns. He had a solid rapport with Mark Sanchez, who has struggled to find his rhythm as a passer since Edwards’ final season.
The Jets allowed Edwards to walk following the 2010 season, opting to grant a long-term contract to Santonio Holmes instead. Edwards went to the 49ers on a 1-year deal before bouncing to Seattle this year
