It’s been a stressful 24 hours for Jets star CB Darrelle Revis, but it sounds like general manager John Idzik has reached out to Revis to clear the air.
Yesterday it was reported that Revis was on the trade block, and that left the CB “speechless” when he was told about it.
Idzik has come out and said that he wants to talk with Revis to make him see where the team is at.
“I reached out to Darrelle and I made sure he knew exactly where we were coming from and that this is my first day on the job,” Idzik said,
“Our message to everyone was, ‘Give us a chance to get to know each other and introduce ourselves to each other.’ A lot of the people in the building you know through football circles but you’ve never worked along side each other. So give us that chance and give us the chance to go through our current roster, ultimately that’s the basis of comparison to whatever you may contemplate doing. We haven’t taken that first step and that’s what I relayed to Darrelle.”
There’s a huge number of teams that would take a look at Revis, but the fact he’s in the last year of his deal would make it more of a rental unless a team deals for him with the premise that a new deal would be done.
