VanGorder interviewed with the Jets Thursday.
VanGorder was the defensive coordinator for the Falcons from 2008-11 before heading to Auburn for a year at the same position.
He takes the place of longtime LB coach Bob Sutton, who left to become Andy Reid’s defensive coordinator in Kansas City.
The Jets also announced the hiring of Bobby April III as a defensive quality control coach.
