People of Jets nation, or fans of any other team, I inform you of fantastic news. It is official. The Jets are finally dropping Calvin Pace. The underperforming ROLB is officially no longer a Jet.
This is one of my dream moves for the Jets to make. Pace was a bad value for the Jets as he was by no means anywhere near being an elite pass rusher. Now, we can possibly draft an LB or we could use Garrett McIntyre, who, quite honestly, blew me away last year. He was an aggressive beast of a pass rusher who has a legitimate future in the NFL.
Now, Pace was not the only player put on the unemployment line by the Jets. Gang Green also released Safety Eric Smith, and Tackle Jason Smith. This move puts the Jets only 2 million dollars away from getting below the salary cap. This is not it for cuts though. Rumors show that Bart Scott could be the next one packing his bags and departing from the New York area.
These moves are fantastic. The Jets have too much of a budgeting problem to keep unnecessary weight on the team. If the Jets were able to clear Bart Scott away from the team, and get his 8.65 million dollars off the pay roll, the Jets would have room to resign LaRon Landry for that 6 million that he says he is requesting. John Idzik is proving he means business. Big headlines have come out from the Jets regarding trades and Darelle Revis, a denial to Ahmad Bradshaw coming to the Jets and now these cuts.
I am excited to see what the new GM and the new Jets do next as they continue team building for next year. As always, share this article around and leave some comments down below and tell us how you feel about these moves.
