An Overdose of Frenzy

There are plenty of training camp competitions going on with the Jets this year, but everyone is missing the most important one: Nick Folk and Billy Cundiff.

I kid of course, but the Geno Smith v. Mark Sanchez competition is outweighing everything else in training camp.  For instance what is going on receiver. While Santonio Holmes is sitting out indefinitely, the receiving core is playing like they are not a losing group as thought to be when camp started. Everyone thought they would see Holmes out and everyone would move one up in the depth chart, but no. Clyde Gates has caught the eye of Rex Ryan in week one of training camp. There are incredible stories that have gotten the bums rush.

How about the fact that Brian Winters took left guard yesterday and Willie Colon took right guard. But the big news was that Rex Ryan said they will probably use more wildcat next year.

Long story short, it has been only a week of training camp and already I’m getting tired of the Smith/Sanchez competition shoved down my throat. There has been a lot happening at training camp but all we hear about is whether or not Geno Smith can finish a wind sprint. But instead, the Jets and the media will exploit the story, even though clearly nothing is happening there until preseason football is well into its third game.
