The New York Jets have signed quarterback Graham Harrell, according to a report by Fox Sports’ Alex Marvez.
Harrell was released by the Green Bay Packers, after losing out on the Packers back-up quarterback job to veteran quarterback Vince Young. Harrell has only seen action in 4 regular season games in his four seasons in the league while playing behind Aaron Rodgers — he has completed 2-of-4 passes for 20 yards. Harrell was 23-for-42 for 169 yards and an interception in three preseason games with the Packers this year.
With 3 banged up quarterbacks — Smith (ankle), Sanchez (shoulder) and McElroy (ankle) — it’s no surprise the Jets made a move for a quarterback, even if just to provide some depth behind Matt Simms during Thursday’s game against Philadelphia. Harrell is expected to report to the team on Wednesday.
