The New York Jets will have a fresh face in the backfield in Atlanta on Monday night, as the team will finally unveil their big free-agent acquisition, RB Mike Goodson.
Goodson, was signed in the off-season to compliment the power running style of Chris Ivory, however he was suspended by the league for the first four games of 2013 after he violated the leagues substance abuse policy in May.
“Words can’t even express how excited I am,” Goodson said. “Just to be able to be out there, we just had a walk-through to be back out there with my teammates, even just watching them go through a walk-through, being able to be out there is cool.”
This is Goodson’s fifth year in the league. In 2012, with the Oakland Raiders, he averaged a whopping 6.3 yards per carry, and 12.2 yards per reception — 35 attempts for 221 yards, and 16 receptions for 195 yards.
Goodson said that he has been working out regularly at the team facility and has spent the past four weeks focused on the playbook.
Although he isn’t sure how the Jets plan to use him just yet, he told the media Monday that he just wants to bring a “spark” to the Jets offense.
