The Jets are convinced that Eric Decker is a legitimate number one wide receiver and not just a product of future hall of famer, Peyton Manning.
“Clearly, he is going to be a go-to guy,” Ryan told Newsday’s Kimberly Martin. “We know what we’re getting. This is going to be a guy that you can get him the ball in critical situations.”
Decker had 87 catches for 1,288 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2013, numbers that many feel were inflated due to playing with Manning. However, Rex Ryan pointed out that Decker also caught eight touchdowns from Tim Tebow in 2011.
“Hey, that’s pretty impressive,” Ryan said.
Clearly, in Ryan’s opinion, if Decker can be productive with Tim Tebow at QB, he certainly can with Geno Smith and Michael Vick throwing him the ball.
