It appears that everyone apart from the head coach believes that Geno Smith is the New York Jets starting quarterback.
Rookie sixth round draft pick, quarterback Tajh Boyd, told NFL.com’s Dan Hanzus at the NFL Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles, that he believes the job is Smith’s to lose.
“Geno has been pretty much … he’s been the offense,” Boyd said. “You know, right now, it’s his team. But, I mean, at the end of the day, you want to go out there and do everything that’s possible to win.”
Boyd joins backup quarterback Michael Vick, and offensive coordinator Marty Morhinweg who have spoken the truth about the teams current quarterback situation. Whereas head coach Rex Ryan has continually toed the company line and maintained that the two quarterbacks are in an open competition.
It’s still early in the off-season, however, at this point, as expected, Geno Smith is the New York Jets starting quarterback.
